I hope you enjoyed my health and fitness Friday Favorites post last week.  This week I have a mish-mash of favorites that have made my life easier in some way.

Phone In A Ziploc

When you’re on a plane with no seatback screen and you’re stuck watching movies on your phone, put it in a Ziploc bag and fasten it to the tray on the seat in front of you for handsfree viewing.  I’ll be using this trick as we fly to Canada this weekend!

Spaghetti Noodles

Thanks to my husband, I’ve learned to break the noodles in half before cooking!  I can’t believe I went 30+ years of my life thinking I had to twirl the noodles on my fork forever (for some reason, cutting spaghetti just seems wrong!).  I am now enjoying eating my spaghetti noodles in small bites with no twirling, spinning or slurping needed.  I’m sure many of you have known this since you started cooking, but I’m a little bit of a late bloomer!

Googling To Save

It’s no secret I love Google, but I have found a lot of success by using Google to search for coupons while in stores.  Many times, I can find a coupon to pull up on my phone and scan at check out for a nice discount.  I know a lot of you have probably used physical or digital coupons at grocery stores, but the next time you’re shopping for non-food items, try Googling coupons before checkout to see what you can find.  I recently found one for 40% off at Michaels!

Hidden Compartment Scarf

Some people travel with money belts, or travel underwear that will keep their money and valuables safe and hidden, but my go-to accessory combines fashion with functionality.  Enter the travel scarf with a hidden zippered compartment.  Your items will be easily accessible, yet no one is going to know you have money or your credit cards in the scarf (until they become wildly popular, that is).

5 Minute Rule

This one is intangible but has been incredibly helpful as I’ve tried to work on being more positive and less of a complainer.  The specific amount of time isn’t that important, but the idea is that when you’re upset or angry about something that’s not that serious (daily frustrations, annoyances, being cut off in traffic, etc), allow yourself to vent and get your frustration out, but after 5 minutes, move on and let go of it (meaning no longer talk about it or think about it, if possible).  Maybe you need less than 5 minutes, or maybe you need a little more, but set a time limit that works for you, and make it your focus to lean into those emotions, but not continue to dwell on them, as that is going to be unhealthy, both physically and mentally.

That’s a wrap for this week!  What is one life hack you love??  Share with me below.
