The Black Friday and Cyber Monday chaos has arrived! As you know, I tend to value experiences over material things. This doesn’t mean I don’t look for good deals this time of year, but I try to stay far away from any chain stores this time of year and shop at small businesses instead. Other than supporting Small Business Saturday, the deals I’m most interested in for the Thanksgiving weekend are online and related to…you guessed it…travel!
My husband and I try to plan 2 international trips each year, and also plan several local adventures in the US as well. Being able to find Black Friday deals on heavily discounted flights, accommodations and sometimes even tour packages can help us all see and do more on a budget! With so many deals, it can be hard to have enough time to find all of them, but I’m sharing the ones that are my top picks for you. Also, last but not least, be sure to use a travel credit card and start at a cash-back site (read my guide comparing them HERE) for all your bookings!
One important note – there are going to be even MORE deals that come out on Cyber Monday and Travel Deal Tuesday next week, so you may want to hold off on booking until you see what deals come out Monday and Tuesday (I’ll update this post as I hear about new deals).
You can use this handy tool from Kayak to search for all the flight deals out there on any airline. If you are loyal to particular airlines, below are some of the best deals I’ve seen from major and lesser-known airlines. Remember to search one-way segments and roundtrip dates to see which comes out cheaper!
Norwegian Air – They are offering up to 30% off flights for travel dates from January through March using code BLACKFRIDAY19. They have several hubs in the US and a great presence in Europe, so hopefully, you will find a departure city that works for you. My husband and I have flown with them and loved both the check-in efficiency and the flight experience.
Secret Flying – Their deals go quickly, but if you don’t mind itineraries with 1 or 2 stops, you can find incredibly low prices on this site. I’m eyeing the one from Washington, DC to Malta for only $364 roundtrip!
Iberia – Note their deal from New York to Tel Aviv!
Ryanair – They may clap when the flight lands, but we enjoyed their budget deals several times on our Europe trips!
Tours, Hotels, Resorts, and Trip Packages
Have you heard of the Azores? They are a beautiful island chain off the coast of Portugal but this company also offers tours to Portugal and Spain as well. Their Cyber Monday Sale has some incredible prices with departures from Boston. The lowest price I’ve seen is $499 including RT flight, accommodations and some tours including whale-watching!! If you’d like a sign-up link that will provide you with an extra discount, comment with your email and I can send you one!
They’re offering 30% off European bookings for stays until April 2020. Must book by 12/2! Though they’re not a budget chain, their quality is always consistently high and I use the Marriott Bonvoy credit card to earn multiple free stays per year.
This company is close to my heart because I took my first solo trip overseas with them in 2014. They’re offering 20% off their 2020 tours for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Read my review of their Balkan Adventure Tour here. Heavy emphasis on sustainable, small-group tours with a lot of local interaction.
They’re offering 25% off tours using code BLACKFRI25. This company is owned by Intrepid, but they focus more on shorter day tours related to food, history, and art. I’ve taken 2 food tours with them in Budapest and Marrakesh and would highly recommend both.
Their MEGA sale is valid on Black Friday only, so don’t delay if you’re interested in getting one of their deals! Fun fact about their all-inclusive resorts – scuba diving is included!
Save up to 20% off their tours until December 2nd. They offer worldwide options so they’d be a good choice if you’re 35+ and looking for a well-respected company to show you new destinations!
Go Ahead Tours
Their Black Friday promotion offers you up to $600 off per person on their worldwide tours. With low deposits of only $300 for their trips, they make travel accessible since you can book far in advance and pay slowly.
They offer hop-on-hop-off tours around Europe that allow you to see a LOT in a short time. Get up to 20% off Busabout tours. The one that stands out to me is their Croatian sailing adventure!
Their Black Friday deals aren’t released yet, but they have a bunch of other tours discounted, like this one on Asia trips! They target the 18-35 year old market with their high bang for your buck tours. Want to know more details? Check out my post about my European Contiki tour.
One Last Note
If you’ve been thinking about getting a Priority Pass membership, Black Friday is definitely the time to do it with their 40% off discount. If you aren’t familiar with this membership, it gives you access to a huge network of airport lounges you can relax, eat, drink and just chill in before your flight or on layovers, and it’s available regardless of your airline or flight level booked.
I hope this list has helped you find a way to fit travel into your budget in 2020. Before you go, be sure to check out my travel packing list recommendations!
