I’m not a yoga person, but the animal lover in me has always wanted some snuggles with adorable dwarf goats, so goat yoga was the best avenue I found for this. After searching for classes near me, the one location in Greensboro that I found seemed to be closed for the colder months so I was thrilled to find Hux Family Farm only an hour away in Durham, North Carolina. Classes are $23 per person, which I found to be quite reasonable. I was giddy as I booked a class for the very next day and proceeded to tell my husband I had a surprise for him. Thankfully he’s spontaneous and went along with me without knowing what we were doing! The past 4 weeks of new things have all been planned by me, but this past weekend Gabe surprised me with a trip to Leatherwood Mountains. This beautiful resort/equine center is located in Ferguson, NC with gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When we arrived he told me that he had booked us a 2-hour trail ride on the horses! How fun!
I’m by no means a runner, but I am competitive and love the thrill of pushing myself, so in the past few years I have run a few trail races and completed one obstacle course race called Rugged Maniac. For Week 4 of trying new things, I combined those two and ran my first Obstacle Course Trail Race called The Scrambler at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte! My friend Naomi and I are both in love with the Whitewater Center and were already planning to be there to watch their Build Your Own Boat Competition, so we decided to sign up for the race to challenge ourselves and see if we could do it!
This week involved trying something I usually avoid at all costs – being cold!! I’m the one who turns off the AC in the mornings after my husband leaves for work and STILL wears a hoodie while I’m working from home because I’m so cold-natured. So, why would I willingly subject myself to freezing cold temperatures? Over the past few years, I’ve seen a lot of health professionals share about the benefits of cold thermogenesis aka cryotherapy. More recently, I listened to an episode of The Model Health Show on how whole-body cryotherapy can help to decrease pain, speed your recovery, and boost your metabolism, so I decided it was time I tried it for myself. Gabe agreed to go in for a session with me, so we made our way to Greensboro Cryo and got checked in.
This month I had the opportunity to try a HIIT class (that’s high-intensity interval training) at The Cycle Loft here in Greensboro. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to the Chipotle right below it and didn’t even realize what was above me. Serves as a good reminder to keep my eyes off my phone and on the world around me!
First impression: I loved the calming and inviting interior. The decor is perfect and made me want to stay and chill for a while after the class. There are changing rooms, ample space to store your belongings and a nice seating area as well, as you can see below. Water bottles are available for purchase, or there is a filtered water cooler upstairs as well. Continue reading “Small Business Spotlight – The Cycle Loft Greensboro”
Most of you know that I enjoy supporting small businesses and if given the chance, I’ll choose a local business 99% of the time as opposed to a large chain (Chipotle is my big exception). I love helping other entrepreneurs grow and thrive in the community, hearing their stories, and making new connections. When I lived in Columbia, SC, most weekends started with a trip to Soda City Market which has grown into an incredible melting pot of local vendors including farmers, artists, musicians, food trucks, and so much more. It’s one of the things I miss most about South Carolina, but thankfully I’ve found the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market here in NC which has been a wonderful replacement. I love their purpose, listed below: Continue reading “Small Business Spotlight – Greensboro Farmers Curb Market”
This week my husband and I were thrilled to be able to try a class at Wine & Design Greensboro. We are always looking for fun new activities for date nights, and after a hectic workday, it seemed like the perfect way to unwind and express our creativity.
