Welcome to the first day of Blogtober! If you’re not familiar, it’s a writing challenge where my goal is to blog every day in October. I enjoyed participating last year, so let’s see if I can keep up the momentum this year. I’ll be writing about various topics including nutrition, fitness challenges, mental health, and of course plenty of travel topics! Today I’m starting off with some ideas for easy to carry snacks for travel!
Having good quality, nutritious snacks can mean the difference between a trip being average and being wonderful. Who’s with me on that? Sure, loading up your bag with a bunch of candy and chips (or whatever your guilty pleasure is) can make you happy for a while, but you’ll likely be regretting those choices when you arrive at your destination bloated and with a belly full of nothing substantial other than sugar and empty carbs.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring snacks though. Especially now when a lot of airport shops and restaurants remain closed and many airlines have cut snack service and/or meals due to COVID-19, you want to be sure you bring some provisions of your own so you don’t get hangry. I like to take the snacks out of their original packaging and put them into their own resealable bag to save space. Below is my list of healthy(ish) snacks that are also lightweight and don’t take up too much space. If you’d like to see them all in one place where you can purchase, go here.
- Veggie Go’s
- Hard Boiled Eggs
- Biltong Crisps
- Seaweed Snacks
- Trail mix or mixed nuts
- Health Warrior Chia Bars
- BARE Apple Chips
- Rice Crackers
- Popcorn
- Honey Sticks
- Skinny Dipped Almonds
- Cassava chips
- Fresh or dried fruit
- LARAbar fruit and veggie bars
- Rickaroons
- Dry oatmeal cup – you can request hot water in flight
- Samai plantain chips
- HU Chocolate
- EPIC baked pork rinds
What are your go-to travel snacks? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading.

A terrific list! People who haven’t traveled since the pandemic hit may not know that most of the shops and restaurants at airports are closed, so fewer chances to buy something there!
