Prime Day starts at Midnight PT/3 am ET on October 13th and runs for 24 hours, so if you’re wanting to make the most of your shopping, here are 4 things to avoid!
Missing Out On Free Cash
- If you’re shopping for Amazon Devices and/or Amazon Home Security & Smart Home Devices, you can qualify for up to 8% cash back by accessing Amazon through TopCashback.
- If you use Prime fairly often, apply for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Credit Card to earn 5% back on all Amazon/Whole Foods purchases, and 2% cash back on restaurants and gas stations. Huge bonus – you instantly get a $100 Amazon gift card upon approval for the card and there is no annual fee!
Buying Without Comparing
As much as I like Amazon, I like getting the lowest price more. Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Chewy are all offering major sales to coincide with Prime Day, so before you make that Amazon purchase, compare prices to see where you will get the best deal (along with the best cashback rate – use cashbackmonitor to track this).

Not Helping Charities
Start your shopping at smile.amazon.com. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at AmazonSmile, you’ll find the exact same prices and selection as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization. You can choose from over one million organizations to support, including schools and churches.
Not Getting The Deals Before They Expire
Many Prime deals will go quickly, so if you don’t have the time to be scrolling all day or setting yourself a timer, download the Amazon mobile app and turn on the app notifications so you won’t miss out on anything!

On a related note, if you’re wondering if a Prime membership is worth it, one feature I’ve been loving about Prime lately is the Free Whole Foods Market delivery. It saves me so much time when I can just shop from home and I’m able to use my Amazon gift cards to pay for groceries. They also offer exclusive Prime discounts of more than 30% off on many grocery items and things like GT’s Kombucha, which is one of my staples!

One last thing – some Prime Day early access deals are already live, so you can start browsing the deals tonight. One that stands out is $70 off the Fire 10 Tablet and you still have until 11:59 pm PT on 10/12 to take advantage of the spend $10 at a small business offer to get a $10 credit to use on Prime Day.
One other fun opportunity – share your #PrimeDayPhotos in the Amazon Photos App for a chance to win one of 30 $1000 Amazon gift cards!
Thanks for reading and Happy Prime Day!
