UPDATE: As of September 24, 2019 I am sad to announce that Podcoin has been shut down and can no longer be used.
I recently shared my favorite health and wellness podcasts with you, so you’re probably thinking, “Another podcast post? Really? Give it a rest, we get it, you’re a podcast junky!” I will, but FIRST I wanted to take a moment to share something new I discovered recently: an app that pays you to listen to podcasts! It’s called Podcoin. Note: I have not been compensated by Podcoin to post this review. I’m just sharing this for any other avid podcast listeners who may be interested.
How It Works
- For every 10 minutes you listen to a podcast, you earn 1 Podcoin. You can listen up to 6 hours per day. I typically listen to at least a few hours per day while working, exercising, driving and cooking because I love multitasking. Each day there is also a category of bonus podcasts where you will earn 1.5 Podcoins per 10 minutes if you listen to those.
- It does take a little time to earn enough Podcoins to redeem for rewards. The minimum for withdrawal appears to be 1200 Podcoins, which is equivalent to a $2 Amazon gift card. You can also redeem your Podcoins for Paypal cash or various electronics. The other option is to donate your Podcoins to charities that provide food for the hungry, clean water, blankets for the homeless, and books for children, among many other things.
- I’ve been using the app off and on (averaging about 3 days a week and it took me about a month to earn the minimum 1200 Podcoins). You may decide that this delayed gratification for a small reward is not worth it for you. I can definitely understand that, but for me, earning a few dollars each month is more than I was making before I started using the app, so since I listen to these podcasts anyway, I figure why not?
Ready to start earning for your listening? Download the app for Android or iPhone!
I was happy to find that all of my favorite podcasts were on this platform, and I also discovered a few new ones through their social connect features. You can read more about their mission here. You know me, I’m all about finding multiple streams of passive income to save money for travel, so earning for something I already do every day is a huge blessing!
I hope you enjoy earning through listening as much as I have been.
