You can read plenty of in-depth travel guides elsewhere. Here is the CliffsNotes version of how we spent our time in the fascinating and vastly underrated city of Copenhagen!

Arrival
Train from Stockholm. Central Station was nice and even had a Joe & The Juice. Do not take the overnight train. Toilets were all broken and reeked of poop! If you have time, definitely take the day train to see the countryside.

Accommodations
We stayed in a charming Airbnb that was a short walk from the metro. Like most places we considered booking, they offered the use of free bikes to explore the city. Feel free to use my referral code to get $40 off your first Airbnb stay.
Off The Beaten Path
Take the metro to Kastrup Sea Bath aka The Snail at Amager Strandpark. Walk by the water. Watch the kiteboarding. Take a polar plunge (nude or clothed is acceptable here, just FYI)
Tourist Trap
Canal tour. If you’ve been to Amsterdam, this one was very similar to the canal tours there. It was scenic, but not our favorite because of the crowds. If you opt to do it, save some money by choosing the one for 50 Krone that’s a little walk down from the first ticket stands you’ll encounter.

Fitness
Climb the 400 steps of the Church of Our Savior’s tower. Arrive early to beat the crowds. It opens at 9:30 am and reached its 50 person capacity quickly. Beware of the wind at the top! Beautiful views of the city and definitely worth the climb!
Transport
Bike, walk or take the metro everywhere. Don’t take taxis if you can help it. Embrace the Danish culture of Hygge and enjoy the plethora of street art.

Quirky
Freetown Christiania. This was educational, to say the least. Basically a commune of hippies, artists, and potheads living by their own rules. Don’t take pictures on Pusher Street. Potheads get quite angry, as I experienced after being oblivious and not reading the rules.
Foodie Fix
Eat street food for at least one meal. Doesn’t matter where. It’s all great. Also get Hansen’s ice cream.
Fancy
Have afternoon tea at Hotel D’Angleterre. You can feel part of the 1% for a bit, enjoy some Earl Grey tea, and explore the beautiful interior of this luxury hotel without spending a lot of money.
Departure
Airport was crowded and disorganized. Took 1 hour to check in for WOW Air. Take the train or a boat instead of flying, if you have the option.
Have you been to Copenhagen? If not, do you think you’ll add it to your bucket list? To be honest, initially, it was not high on my list and we actually ended up going as an afterthought, but I’d definitely love to go back if given the chance!
Thanks for reading! As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions!

I’ve never been, but I would love to go. It looks beautiful and like you had a great time!

I’m still undecided on whether I prefer the art (I’m a massive fan) or that too-good-to-be-true icecream. ๐ซ
Great post!
